SKILLS USA ALABAMA AWARDS 2014
Tuscaloosa Digital Media Production Students Bring Home the Gold & Silver
Charles Lane and Viktoria Piepke, Tuscaloosa City School students, won 1st place in the Alabama SkillsUSA Television (Video) Production team competition. Lane is a student at Northridge High School and Piepke is a student at Paul W. Bryant High School. Both students enrolled in the Film & Digital Media Production program at the Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy (TCTA). Sean Miller, Fred Mobley and Isaac Franklin, Tuscaloosa City School students, won 2nd place in the Alabama SkillsUSA Television (Video) Production team competition. Miller and Mobley are Northridge High School students enrolled in the Digital Media Production program at the Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy. Franklin is a student enrolled at Paul W. Bryant High School.
The students and their teacher, Christopher King, attended the Alabama SkillsUSA Championships and Leadership Conference at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center on April 24th & 25th. Their on-site competition involved creating a promotional video for the Alabama Skills USA Competition. Television industry professionals judged the video entries. The students received gold and silver medallions.
Christopher King and Valencia Winston teach the Film and Digital Media Production program at TCTA. SkillsUSA is the national organization serving teachers, high school and college students who are preparing for careers in technical, skilled and service occupations.
